it's looking like milan (or venice!) may be out of the price range.
milan is 330DM return and venice is 370.  that equoates to about $270
and $300 respectively.  brussels is 210DM -> $170.  that
s better, but i might have to stay in germany.  if i choose a german 
city, i can do evening/night travel just about anywhere for 120DM->
