NCSA Mosaic Logo Sightings
This is a collection of appearances of the logo for the web browser
that started it all (the browser that remains unequalled to this day
for user interface and configurability).
Contributions and attributions welcome!!

Dr. Fun Logo #10
by Dave Farley, creator of
Dr. Fun. He's not sure of
the exact date, but it would have been around March of 1994. Might
have just been because Mosaic was effectively synonymous with the
Web at the time, or might have been because Marc Andreessen kept
mentioning Dr. Fun on the NCSA What's New page.

Variations on the Theme
Company Logos
-
Spyglass, Inc..
-
Scotiabank, a
Canadian bank. Ok, so this bank's been around since 1832, and their
logo is surely not based on the Mosaic logo, but still, it seems to
fit here, don't you think? I only wish I had a nicer
(higher-resolution) one...
-
Sonoco, a consumer and
industrial packaging company, about to celebrate its 100th year
(1999). I figure this isn't based on the Mosaic logo either, but
again, how could I resist? (Plus, I've gotten some really nice email
from the folks at Sonoco, amused and flattered to find themselves on
my page. :-)
-
the University of Nebraska
at Lincoln. Our hero suffering from taco-neck syndrome.
-
Spacetec
IMC, makers of the SpaceOrb 360 game controller device. It
doesn't really remind me of the Mosaic logo, but at least it's got the
two key elements -- the 'S' and the globe.
-
WebOS, "a mature suite of web site management tools" from
Adhesive Media.
-
Systranet, a
language translation company.
-
StudioS, an Italian
marketing and advertising company.
-
Canopus
Marketing, a South African "Database Marketing and Relationship
Management Consultancy".
-
Network Associates, Inc.,
the conjunction of McAfee, Network General, PGP, and Helix.
-
Simmons, bed folks.
This one's Way Cool, what with the spinning globe and all.
-
A company by the strange name
of "Symbio", Internet service provider types in California.
Miscellanea
- Terry wanted the world to know that
he helped fan the
flames.
- Can you find 10 Mosaic logo items/images in this
photo of my office? (Not all of
them are visible at this resolution, so you need to infer them from
other visual clues.)
